About Us....Living Our Dream
The heart of White Oak Alpacas is our Victorian ranch house. It sits on a slope with a spectacular view of Mount St. Helens in Washington State. Our namesake is a magnificent, centuries old Oregon white oak tree, Quercus garryanna. Two spacious barns sit atop lush pastures for the alpacas. Our ranch has been compassionately developing its herd for over 20 years.
Alpacas look like a cross between a giraffe and a teddy bear. They are small enough that Karin can look them in the eye with mutual respect not intimidation. Not only are they cute but are raised for their fiber (wool) not meat. So we can name them and hug them too. A perfect match!
Karin joined the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association and researches the care and management of the animals. Education is not only important but fun as she continues to expand her knowledge in all aspects of the alpaca industry, ranching, spinning, weaving and the subtle joys of country life. White Oak Alpacas has been a part of the alpaca community in Clark County participating in alpaca and fiber shows.
Currently 34 alpacas reside with us and we offer ranch tours, participate in educational outreach and have an onsite shop. Sheared Delights is a boutique shop featuring a range of productions developed from our alpaca fiber. We are excited to bring our shop online to share our love of alpacas with a greater number of people. We are looking forward to a wonderful future meeting new people online.
